Resources and Labour Climate
Ensuring adequate power supply is top priority. Currently total power generated by MP is 3814 MW, with another 1250 MW coming from the central sector. In anticipation of increased industrial activity, the state is already taking steps to meet the growing requirements. Apart from 22 new power plants in the private sector to generate an additional 4702 MW, MP will also increase its share from the Centre and other sources.
Madhya Pradesh is endowed with
mineral resources which include 27% of India's
mineral resources. The state leads in the production of Diamonds
(100%), Tin(99%), Rock Phosphate(40%), Dolomite(36%),
Copper -ore (33%), Iron-ore(22%), Coal(15%),
Limestone(12%), Bauxite(12%), Manganese-ore(13%),
Diaspore, Slate quartzite, etc. The figure in ( )
indicates percentage share in India pyrophyllite. Vast
reserves of limestone and coal help MP contribute 25% of
India's total cement production. Madhya Pradesh, the largest State of India offers adequate land to industries for their present and future use liberally at one of the best terms. Already, large areas have been denoted and developed for industrial development. Many hundred hectare are in the process of being transferred to industries department for allocation to industrial units. 17482.613 hectares of land has been ear marked for
AKVNs (Industrial Centres Development Corporation),
Industrial Areas, Semi-Urban Industrial Entrepreneurs and
Rural Workshops.
Excellent rapport Between the workforce and the industry has accelerated MP's industrialization even further. Although the total population of workers is over 45 lakhs, the state has an enviable record of maintaining industrial harmony. As a result, MP has the lowest number of man-days lost compared to other major industrial states. Real wealth, in any State, lies in the quality of
its people. And MP's investment in educational
institutions is paying rich dividends today.Every year,
25,000 qualified engineers graduate from the State's 14
Engineering colleges, 40 Polytechnics and 76 Industrial
Training Institutes.(ITIs). In addition, 12
Universities and 37 Professional Colleges ensure a
continuous supply of managerial, technical and
supervisory personnel, as well as skilled workers. Excellent rapport between the workforce and the
industry has accelerated MP's industrialization even
further . Although the total population of workers is
over 45 lakhs, the State has an enviable record of
maintaining industrial harmony. The State was ranked
lowest in India for the man-days lost in 1991 and the
tradition still continues. In addition, as many as six towns are connected by flights. A reflection of the increased industrial activity is the recent introduction of the private airline operations. The state's first container port has already started functioning at the Pithampur Growth Centre. And no matter how remote the district, you will find STD facilities. The network covers all districts, headquarters and their sub divisions. Major industrial growth centres have electronic exchanges. In fact, anticipation of MP's industrial boom, the private sector is gearing itself to expand telecom facilities even further. |
